
Tassos® Olive Oils
Greece is the third largest Olive Oil producing country in the world after Spain and Italy. However, 80% -90% of Greek production is high quality olive oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) while other countries produce high quality oil in quantities between 20% - 30% of their total volume. The majority of Greek Olive Oil is exported in bulk, blended with other olive oils and bottled under well-known brand names to be sold in the United States. Tassos® Extra Virgin, Fine Virgin and Organic Extra Virgin are offered as estate and unblended olive oil.
Tassos® Olive Oils, are produced with great vigilance and attention to centuries old traditions. The unripe olives are handpicked to avoid bruising, inspected twice for quality, and deposited in burlap sacks for transport to the mill. Upon arrival, the olives are immediately washed with cold water. Without added chemicals or additives they are pressed to extract the natural juice of the world renowned unripe Koroneiki Olive.
When you purchase Tassos® Olive Oil, be it the Extra Virgin, Fine Virgin or Organic Olive Oil you have secured one of the world's finest olive oils. All three oils are produced from the first cold press of the olives and remain unblended. The Tassos® signature qualities captured from the juice of the Koroneiki Olive include: unique emerald color; aroma of natural herbs and mountainside wild flowers; and a peppery taste.
Harvested, pressed and bottled in the region of Peza; overlooking the Palace of Knossos on the Island of Crete, Tassos® Olive Oils were first introduced to the United States in 1995. To date our award winning olive oil can be found in national and regional grocery chains as well as many high-end gourmet and natural food shops spread across the country. They are offered in 500 ml, 750 ml, 1 liter glass bottles and in 3 liter tins.
