Marmalade-and-Brie Toast with Balsamic Glaze

This is truly a harmonious trio. This toast has it all – great taste and is super easy to prepare. It is highly versatile as a delightful dessert, appetizer, side or a light meal.

Brie has a delicate, deeply satisfying taste. This recipe combines ingredients that love to be with brie but not overwhelm its velvety texture, singularly light, buttery flavor and slightly salty finish.

With the balsamic glaze, the sweet, mellow, tangy, salty tastes all harmonize. If you wish something more substantial, include one of our bruschettas, or if you wish something more toward a dessert, make the walnuts or pecans candid.

This toast works very well with a charcuterie, fruit, or cheese platter.

Ingredients

Balsamic Glaze

  • ½ cup Tassos® Balsamic Vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar

Marmalade-and-Brie Toast

  • sour dough or French bread, sliced
  • ½ cup Tassos® Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • sea salt to taste
  • ½ jar Tassos® Bruschetta, your choice (optional)
  • 1 8-oz package brie, sliced in ¼-inch pieces
  • ½ cup Tassos® Marmalade, your choice
  • walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • fresh thyme or mint (optional)

Cooking Directions

Directions

Balsamic Glaze

Place balsamic vinegar and maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once the mixture begins to bubble, reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to simmer until thick, syrupy, and reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.

Marmalade-and-Brie Toast

Brush bread slices with the extra virgin olive oil, season with sea salt, and toast under the grill. Spread the toast with your favorite bruschetta (optional). Top with slices of brie and a dollop of your favorite marmalade.

Serve

Drizzle toast with balsamic glaze. Garnish with walnuts or pecans and thyme or mint (optional) and plate with pears or apples.

Note: You can store excess balsamic glaze in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Enjoy on salads, fruit, cheeses, vegetables, chicken, fish, and even glaze beef or pork when grilling.
